A wine cellar wall, a stone fireplace, a kitchen that treats simple ingredients seriously. This is Bonterra.
Chandeliers, a glass-enclosed cellar, a stone fireplace that's warmed a thousand winter dinners — the room does a lot of the talking before the food even arrives. Every dish and every glass is poured slowly, the way contemporary Italian cooking is meant to be enjoyed.
The kitchen keeps to a Mediterranean line: bold, unfussy flavours, local ingredients, nothing over-worked. In warmer months the Tuscan-style terrace opens up like a second dining room.
We work with Alberta ranchers, lake fisheries, and small local farms wherever the season allows, then let the classics do what they've always done — the pasta is rolled fresh, the sauces are built slowly, and the wine list leans into the regions that make Italian food make sense: Piedmont, Tuscany, Sicily, with a handful of new-world bottles for balance.
Downtown Calgary doesn't have many rooms built around a fireplace and a glass-walled cellar at the same time — most nights you'll find both lit, both full, and a table waiting whether you're in for a quick lunch, a long dinner, or Bonterra-Tivo at the bar.
Every day, 2–4pm & 9pm to close. $5 bites, $12 cocktails, half-off select bottles, and the $5 Bon-Tiara — our mini charcuterie crown, served on top of your glass. It's the same kitchen and the same bar, just a friendlier bill — a good excuse to stop in after work or before a show without committing to a full dinner.

"Wonderful night — great service, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We'll return."Cathy, OpenTable
"One of my favourite dining experiences in Calgary. Every dish landed."Steph, OpenTable
"Great wine selection, attentive service — perfect for a date night."Chloe P., Yelp
Three distinct settings under one roof — the glass-enclosed wine cellar for a private, candlelit dinner, the stone fireplace lounge for something a little more relaxed, and the terrace, open through the warm months, looking out over downtown. View full gallery →
